The Melbourne Hairdressers Association has accused its members of “disrespectful behaviour” and “shocking behaviour” in an online statement.
The Association, which represents hairdressers in Victoria’s capital, said in a statement it had “serious concerns” about a series of online posts by a member of the Association’s WA branch.
“We were alarmed to read in the past 24 hours of the actions of a WA member of our WA branch that have included: disrespecting women, the environment and the community; threatening, harassing and bullying women; and taking the lives of our colleagues,” the statement read.
“The association is concerned about the safety of its members, and the safety and well-being of the women who work in its salon.””
The association said in the statement it would continue to engage with the WA branch and the WA Police. “
The association is concerned about the safety of its members, and the safety and well-being of the women who work in its salon.”
The association said in the statement it would continue to engage with the WA branch and the WA Police.
“It is the Association that represents the women of Melbourne in our profession and we are concerned about what has transpired in the last few days,” the association said.
The statement said it would “continue to engage” with the Police about the alleged offending.
Last month, a video surfaced on YouTube showing a woman being verbally and physically abused in the salon.
The woman said she was subjected to “f***ing sh*t”, which prompted her to flee the premises.
A spokesperson for the WA Hairdresser’s Association told the ABC the woman had been approached by the WA Department of Health on Friday night.
However, a statement released by the Hairdress Club said it had not received any information from the Department about any complaint.
“As you can imagine, the WA Health Department is not interested in responding to allegations of this nature,” the Hair Dresser’s Club said in its statement.
[The WA Department] is not involved in the WA Association.”WA Police said they were investigating the incident.
