I’m a hairstylist.
I’m an art director.
I make videos and make videos for women’s organizations.
I’ve done the video for Black Lives Matter, and I made a video for The Body Shop, a clothing company that makes women’s lingerie, for Black Friday.
My clients are all women, and the video was something that I would never dream of doing.
So when the fashion-forward beauty queen of my generation was talking about the fashion industry, I felt that I was doing something that wasn’t just an art form, it was an act of resistance.
I wanted to do something that was really powerful.
I felt like I needed to say something about that, to be able to put myself in their shoes and be able be their advocate.
It’s been the biggest influence on my career, and that’s because I love women.
I love them.
I like to be with them.
It was an opportunity for me to say, You know what?
There’s something I’m going to do that’s really powerful that I don’t think people are aware of.
And it’s not something that is going to go away.
